Private trip to the Ourika valley

Depart from Marrakech at 9:00 AM for a scenic journey towards the High Atlas Mountains. Located about 68 km southeast of Marrakech, the Ourika Valley offers a refreshing escape, with the crystal-clear waters of the Ourika River, charming waterfalls, and picturesque Berber villages nestled against the red mountains.

At an altitude of 1,700 meters, the valley is dotted with trails that lead to the famous waterfalls. Below, you’ll find fertile gardens and cultivated lands shaded by fruit trees. Your first stop will be a panoramic viewpoint with breathtaking views of the valley and surrounding mountains. Following this, enjoy a rich cultural encounter by visiting the Eco-Berber Museum, where you’ll learn about traditional Amazigh life, crafts, and heritage. Just a short walk through a peaceful Berber village brings you to a local family's home, where you’ll be welcomed with warm hospitality, mint tea, and a taste of homemade bread served with olive oil, butter, and honey.
This authentic moment offers a rare insight into daily Berber life, creating a genuine and unforgettable connection with Morocco’s mountain communities.

Afterward, we’ll continue our journey to the village of Setti-Fatma, the starting point for your hike to the waterfalls. The hike itself is manageable, and along the way, you'll be treated to stunning views of the Ourika Valley and the Yagour Mountains. Your local guide will accompany you, offering insights into the region’s history and nature. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the hike can be a bit challenging, but the rewards are well worth the effort.

On your journey to the valley, you’ll pass through several cooperatives run by local Berber women, where you can see how Argan oil and traditional Berber rugs are made. If you’re interested, your driver can stop at these cooperatives for you to explore the process.

The Berber people of the Ourika Valley are an integral part of the region’s history and culture. With a rich heritage that dates back thousands of years, the Berbers are known for their strong ties to the land, traditional farming methods, and craftsmanship. The Berber villages in the Ourika Valley are a testament to their resilience and adaptability, as their stone houses blend harmoniously with the natural landscape. The Berber community has preserved its customs and way of life, and you’ll witness their warm hospitality throughout your visit.

After your hike, enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant by the river, where you can relax and take in the serene surroundings. Following lunch, we’ll drive you back to your accommodation in Marrakech.

For a bit of extra fun, you can also enjoy a camel ride on the way back to Marrakech. If you prefer, the camel ride can be arranged on the way to the valley as well, just let your driver know.
